Community Priorities and Funding Strategies

Coordinated Entry, Housing Prioritization and Homeless Service Needs

The Homeless Inter-agency Council (COC) is implementing tools and strategies to improve access to housing resources and assistance. The COC has implemented a new Housing Prioritization process, otherwise known as “Coordinated Entry.”

We working on alternatives to the current assessment tool, the Vulnerability Index and Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool (VI-SPDAT), as we seek ways to improve the way we prioritize those who are the most vulnerable with the greatest needs as well as to expand our service referral system to help connect those experiencing homelessness to needed services including our community's housing resources.

**Individuals experiencing homelessness can access emergency shelter and street outreach services without taking a Housing Assessment.

Ending Veteran Homelessness

The Homeless Inter-agency Council is committed to help our region meet the goal of ending Veteran Homelessness. The Homeless Veteran Strategy Team  augments the Coordinated Entry weekly staffing. Current the Team meets every two months.  The teams identifies opportunities to reach homeless veterans and best-practice strategies to address the unique needs of this population and ensure they are being engaged and moved into housing as quickly as possible. The Strategy Team reviews our region's progress on meeting federal benchmarks for ending Veteran homelessness.
