Rural Transportation Advisory Committee

 

The purpose of the Rural Transportation Advisory Committee (RTAC) is to serve as a forum of cooperative transportation planning decision making for the RPO. The RTAC has the responsibility of keeping the local policy boards informed of the status of requirements of the transportation planning process; assisting in the dissemination and clarification of the decisions, inclinations, and policies of the policy boards; and helping ensure meaningful public participation in the rural transportation planning process.

The Rural Transportation Advisory Committee (RTAC) is responsible for carrying out the following: 

  • Establish goals, priorities, and objectives for the rural transportation planning process
  • Review and recommend changes to adopted transportation plans for the RPO
  • Review and recommend a work program for transportation planning which defines work tasks and responsibilities for those participating in the RPO
  • Review and recommend transportation improvement projects that support and enhance transportation within the RPO 

 

Memorandum of Understanding

The Cape Fear RPO was established in 2001 through a memorandum of understanding between the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Brunswick, Columbus, and Pender counties, and the Cape Fear Council of Governments.
